Adaptive Winter Programs
NEHSA’s adaptive winter programs provide outdoor recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities to learn to ski (standup and sitdown), snowboard, and ski-bike.
Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury NH is home to our adaptive winter sport programs. We offer adaptive skiing, (stand up and sit down), adaptive snowboarding and ski bike lessons.
Adaptive ski and snowboard lessons are available to individuals of all ages and abilities, December through late March. Taking part in adaptive winter sports provides participants an opportunity to learn new skills, build physical and mental strength, and have a great time outdoors with friends and family.
What to expect:
1. Equipment Tailored to Fit
NEHSA’s equipment is state of the art. We provide skis, boots, bindings, poles, helmets (these are required), and a full range of adaptive devices such as outriggers, mono-skis, bi-skis. Our shop volunteers are certified adaptive ski and snowboard technicians trained and equipped to fit equipment to any need.
2. Our Instructors
All of our adaptive ski and snowboarding instructors undergo rigorous training. Many are certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA), and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI), enabling them to provide the best instruction for individuals with disabilities.
3. On the Hill
Once your gear is fitted, it’s time to get out on the mountain. Your instructor will make sure you are safe and having fun. We are focused on helping you learn a new skill, develop your confidence and most importantly have fun!
