President’s New Year Message

Hello and Happy New Year!

Today I wanted to share with you some amazing news.  As you are aware, about 3 years ago we undertook the challenge of expanding our NEHSA home.  Since then, I’ve shared the many challenges and victories along the way.  On many occasions, this project has felt like an impossible task, but you, our members, have always held true to this vision and we are now at the door-step of groundbreaking in the spring once mother-nature allows.

Our construction committee has been busy behind the scenes working with our contractor, Milestone Construction, to finalize the details of the project. Also, it is impossible to say enough thanks to Tom and his tireless effort on this project!  It only seems fitting that this project and Tom’s retirement are coming together towards a new beginning for our beloved NEHSA.

Today’s I am excited to announce a major grant challenge that has the feel of moving us to the finish line on funding this project.  A long-time NEHSA “angel” has come forward to challenge us to raise $150,000 during the 2018 winter sports season!  When we are successful, this donor will match dollar for dollar,  that $150,000 placing us in the best possible position for construction.

This seems like a lot, but I am reminded of the success we achieved during phase-1 of our capital campaign and that we were able to raise nearly $300,000 in a similar timeframe!  I have every bit of confidence in our ability to meet this challenge, but there is much work to be done!  We understand that many have contributed in the past, but now more than ever your support is critical to making this expansion a reality.  Please consider a gift today, or perhaps a multi-year donation, to help us attain this amazing challenge to help us complete this long-awaited project.

Thank you, and Happy New Year,

Erik S Wheeler
